About John Barney

John Barney

John Barney is an artist in the Los Angeles area. A fan of art his whole life, he’s visited galleries across the country. A self-taught artist, not bound by convention or formal training, he’s been free to follow his own path. He’s incorporated many of the characteristics that he’s admired from the many paintings he’s observed, namely color, texture, and psychological dimension into his won work. Many of his paintings are created using a palette knife – he feels that texture adds to the emotional impact of a painting and finds the controlled “random elements” of the knife stroke fascinating.
